Lock is an area not short of quality players in this year’s Group 10 competition.
And, being the final position to be selected, lock is the cherry on top of this year’s People’s Choice Group 10 Team of the Year cake.
If you’ve missed out on voting for any positions over the last two weeks, just follow the links on the website from fullback through to second row and select who you think deserves to be in the 2013 line-up.
THE CONTENDERS:
Todd Barrow (Orange Hawks): four tries, seven goals, 12 games.
Led Group 10 to victory over reigning tier two CRL champions Group 11 this season. Has been one of Hawks’ best this year and would love nothing more than to help the club go all the way to a premiership in 2013.
Brendon Van Veen (Lithgow Workies): nine tries, 13 games.
The lesser known of the powerful Van Veen brothers, but Brendon is every bit as good as brother Jono, and may in fact be even better. Van Veen boasts an incredible work rate on top of one of the more damaging running games in the game. A big game player for Workies in their push for back-to-back Group 10 titles.
Mitch Devin (Mudgee Dragons): one try, nine games.
A young lock on the rise, Devine had a short stint with the Manly Sea Eagles before returning home with the Dragons for 2013. A player for the future in Mudgee.
Tim Tobin (Cowra Magpies): six tries, 14 games.
Every time Tobin runs the ball he invariably beats the first and second tackler, such is his power at the line. Having worn the captain’s tag for Cowra over the back end of the season, Tobin has led from the front for the Group 10 battlers.
