The Cancer Council has been given a Honda HR-V, which will be used to transport cancer patients and their carers who couldn’t otherwise get to their cancer treatment or appointments in Western NSW.
For over three years, the program has supported patients who face socio-economic disadvantage.
“Cancer Council NSW is 95 per cent community funded, so when we’re granted a fabulous new vehicle to support patients in getting to potentially life-saving cancer treatment, it saves us a lot of funds that we can use for cancer research and other services,” Cancer Council’s Camilla Thompson said.
Ms Thompson thanked The Honda Foundation for the branded vehicle.
“It looks great and our generous supporters can really see how their donations are helping people going through a tough time,” she added.
The Honda Foundation is funded by contributions from Honda Australia, private donors and more than 100 dealerships nationwide.
We are delighted that this HR-V will allow clients fighting cancer to access critical treatments during one of the toughest time of their lives,
- Stephen Collins, Honda Foundation
The Honda Foundation Chairman Stephen Collins thanked the Cancer Council NSW for making a difference to those in need.
“We are delighted that this HR-V will allow clients fighting cancer to access critical treatments during one of the toughest time of their lives,” he said.
The free service is made possible through the work of around 30 volunteer drivers, who deliver patients from homes to cancer treatment, sometimes three or four times a week.
