Written and directed by Kevin Beatty, the production promises to be a barrel of laughs according to producer Paula Rudd.
“It’s an amazing script written by Kevin Betty and was loosely based on the movie Crackerjack,” she said.
“Think of the movie Crackerjack, throw in some Sister Act and then mix in some hillbillies and other characters, you will be rolling in the isles laughing.
“It’s a very typical Kevin Beatty eclectic way of writing.”
The 20 cast and crew have been in rehearsals since May and tickets are now on sale.
“It’s a three-act comedy and there’s songs sprinkled throughout and a bit of dancing,” Mrs Rudd said. “It’s a lot of work but it’s a very, very funny script.
“Kevin’s still writing better than ever.”
In 35 years of theatre shows the Molong Players have raised over $1.5 million to support initiatives across the local area.
Mrs Rudd said half of the funds raised from A Club full of Cracks eight-show season will be returned to the community group that provides catering.
“At the end of the season we ask people who didn’t cater to put in a submission [for the remaining funding],” she said.
In past years they have provided funding to Orange and District Early Education Program, as well as the show society, museum and bowling club.
Mrs Rudd said there are nurses, teachers, police officers, real estate agents and artists among the line-up of actors for this year’s production.
“This eclectic mix works well together and we all have so much fun doing the shows and raising much needed charitable funds for Cabonne,” she said.
The show opens on August 9 and runs for eight shows until August 31. Tickets are available from Williams Machin, Bank Street, Molong or by calling 6366 9222.
Opening night tickets are $20 and people are asked to bring their own supper.
All other performances are $40 a ticket which includes a two-course meal.
