The winner of the Young Entrepreneur award at the 2014 Banjo Business Awards, Mr Colton has set up Central West Networks to service his clients, saying the idea grew from his frustrations with clients being unable to access high speed and high capacity internet services once he had set up their computing systems.
“I would walk in and there would be a room of 30 people sitting around, unable to work because of access issues,” he said.
Mr Colton has set up Central West Networks to provide business-grade, fibre-equivalent internet to the Central West and is working off equipment worth tens of thousands of dollars installed on a tower at Mount Canobolas and another at Mount Panorama.
“We are closing the gap for regional businesses to have access to the same services as their Sydney counterparts,” he said.
Mr Colton says he set up the high speed/high capacity fully-managed internet service over the microwave spectrum as he does not believe there is a guarantee the National Broadband Network will fix existing internet speeds.

INLAND Technology Calare dealer principal Lawrence Breen is thrilled with winning the Canon NSW Business Partner of the Year Award.
“It came as a complete surprise, as in an increasingly competitive business landscape, it’s hard to stand tall, let alone be recognised amongst some of the biggest and best, at a time when you have your head down making your business work,” Mr Breen said.
The awards recognise the outstanding achievements of Canon’s 55 partners across 70 branches throughout Australia and the Pacific.
