In short, he was rapt with the trip, in which his franchise claimed back-to-back wins over Hong Kong.
“It was fantastic, just excellent,” Cummins enthused.
“After what we saw and heard following the [Group 10 grand finals] we were really worried for a while but the ground staff did an amazing job and the boys were all pleased with the ground and the deck. We scored 200 and 170, so it must’ve been pretty good.
“The community responded really well and turned out in force, which is great.
“The guys have signed just about every shirt here creates a lasting memory, that one-on-one interaction. It’s really important and it’s part of what we’re doing at the Thunder.”
Cummins said Albury, where the Thunder takes on the Melbourne Stars on Tuesday, has plenty to live up to now.
“I think so, Orange showed what is possible and what a great day these events can be,” he said.
“I’m very confident Albury will step up as well, but here in Orange, it was the first time a Big Bash team has played an international side ever so it was great to be a part of history and it was great to be able to do it in Orange.”
So, the prudent question – will the Thunder return to Orange?
“If Orange City Council will have us, definitely,” Cummins smiled.
