It was a phone call that Kris Kellner never expected to receive.
She lives on Aerodrome Rd at Camden, south-west of Sydney, but she didn’t ever expect a light plane to end up in her backyard.
Ms Kellner, who wasn’t home at the time, learnt the shocking news from a friend as her family prepared to board a cruise.
“It’s a bit of a shock to hear about, especially not being there to manage things,” Ms Kellner said.
Emergency services were called to the 5.6 hectare property before lunch on Thursday.
Two people, a man and woman in their early 20s, who were on board the plane were injured in the crash.
“We are not sure of the damage [to the property] yet.”
“We have a mare and foal in the paddock [where the plane crashed],” she said.
“The foal jumped the fence because it was spooked by the sound of the plane and helicopter.
“I’ll get one of my friends to bring her back.”
Despite the shock, Ms Kellner said her holiday would go ahead as planned.
“From what I understand, it is now all under control at home,” she said. “But we will keep our fingers on the pulse of what’s happening.”
