For more than three years, Mr Taylor said he has taken immaculate care of his beard.
“It’s my pride and joy. A lot of members are keen to see me clean shaven,” Mr Taylor said
To ease the burden of removing the beard, the team decided to raise $2000 for the Vinnies food van.
Mr Taylor said he’d only shave off his beard if it would help a local charity.
“The food van helps people who are homeless or under privileged here in the city,” Mr Taylor said.
To encourage some donations, as the fundraising goal is reached, owner Nick Gray volunteered to do 1000 burpees after $1000 is raised.
“It took eight days to raise $1100,” Mr Taylor said.
Mr Gray expected it to take more than two hours.
“It took 53 minutes for the first 500, I’m expecting fatigue will be an issue for the second 500.”
Once $2000 is raised, Mr Taylor’s beard will go and Mr Gray said he would do one kilometre of lunges.
